More Information on the HALO SleepSack Wearable Blanket

Q: How do I use the Halo SleepSack wearable blanket?

A: Slip the SleepSack over your baby's regular sleepwear as a replacement to loose blankets. You will normally want to put a "onesie" or long sleeve sleeper on underneath the SleepSack depending on your nursery temperature. Don't put anything on your baby's head to prevent overheating. The SleepSack will keep them just right.

Q: Can I start using a larger-sized SleepSack on my newborn and he/she can just grow into it?

A: We do not recommend using a SleepSack that does not correspond to your baby's current size. The purpose of the SleepSack is to keep your baby from having any excess material that may bunch up around the baby's nose or mouth. If the baby is wearing a SleepSack that is too large, there is a potential that the baby will slip through the neck hole or bunch up the excess material around his or her face, potentially causing the baby to rebreathe their own carbon dioxide.

Q: What material is the SleepSack made of?

A: We offer the SleepSack in the following materials:

Micro-Fleece Weight = 250 grams per sq. meter 100% flame retardant poly 288 high filament count 150 denier thread count brushed both sides anti-pill outside

Cotton 100% long-staple cotton and flame resistant cuffs and neckline trim have spandex incorporated for comfort Manufactured by Sara¹s Prints

Q: Is the SleepSack flame-resistant?

A: Yes.  The SleepSack materials have been tested to meet U.S. children's sleepwear flame-resistant standards. The fleece material contains no additives to make it flame resistant. The material is inherently flame retardant.

Q: Which is warmer -- fleece or cotton?

A: It depends on your nursery temperature. If it is usually under 75 degrees you may want to consider micro-fleece, if it is usually over 75 degrees, consider cotton. Both our micro-fleece and cotton materials are extremely comfortable fabrics for sleeping babies in any climate. However, if you live in a very warm climate, you may find the cotton SleepSack to be the best choice. Likewise, if you live in a very cold climate, the micro-fleece SleepSack may be a better option for you. However, both fabrics wick moisture away and breathe so there is less overheating.

Q: Won¹t my baby get too hot wearing the SleepSack?

A: We have found that the SleepSack is suitable for a wide range of temperatures by adjusting the clothing you put on your baby underneath the SleepSack. It keeps them comfortable in all but the warmest rooms. They can wear anything from just a diaper underneath this cuddly fabric, to a onesie or sleeper. Many parents have reported that their babies sleep better with the Halo SleepSack since they stay covered all night long.

Q: Why is the zipper upside down?

A: The zipper was designed to minimize the chance of your baby unzipping it during the night. It also makes it easier to change diapers because you won't have to disrobe the baby in order to do so. It also eliminates the "pinch point" that most sleepers have with the zipper pull at the top.

Q: Why are there no sleeves?

A: A no-sleeve design makes it easy for parents to slip the SleepSack on and off the baby. (Even while baby is already sleeping!) It also reduces the chance of baby rebreathing into the excess material that a sleeve entails and it reduces the risk of overheating.

Q: Is there a specific reason for the bell-shaped style?

A: Our new bell-shaped style gives the baby more room to move their feet within the sack. It also makes it even easier than our original design to change diapers and leave on when transferring to the car seat for that early morning drive to daycare.

Q: How does the SleepSack hold up in the washing machine?

A: Our SleepSack is made of the highest grade fleece and cotton available which will remain durable through many washings.

Q: Where can I get more information about SIDS?

A: To find out more about SIDS, you can visit www.sidsalliance.org or call the SIDS Alliance toll-free number 800-221-SIDS (7437).
